Watauga Undercover Ops Result in Narcotics Arrest

Special Report to Blowing Rock News from Watauga County Sheriff''s Office.  April 3, 2014. BOONE, NC — On April 2, 2014, Narcotics Detectives from the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office seized trafficking levels of Vicodin, a Schedule III narcotic pain medication which contains Hydrocodone/Acetaminophen, following an undercover operation.

The narcotics seizure was precipitated by two undercover operations which Detectives purchased Vicodin from the suspect, Selena Nicole Burleson.  During the final operation, Burleson had her 4 year old daughter present while trafficking levels of pain medication was sold to the undercover officer.  Detectives approached Burleson following the undercover operation and placed her into custody while arrangements were made to have her daughter picked up.

Burleson is a known affiliate of the Avery County Chapter of the Ghost Riders Motorcycle Club (GRMC).  Detectives are aware of GRMC’s involvement in the sell/distribution of controlled substances in Watauga and Avery County.

Selena Nicole Burleson, 35, of 7134 Hickory Nut Gap, Banner Elk, NC 28604, was charged with 2 counts of Trafficking Opium/Heroin by Possession, 2 counts of Trafficking Opium/Heroin by Transportation, 2 counts of Trafficking Opium/Heroin by Sell, PWISD Schedule III CS, Simple Possession Schedule II CS, and Simple Possession Schedule IV CS.  A total of 92 ½ Vicodin tablets, 6 Oxycodone tablet, and 7 Xanax tablets were seized during the operation.  The estimated street value for all seized illegal prescription medication is approximately $800.

Burleson was taken to the Watauga County Detention Facility in lieu of a $75,000 secured bond.  Burleson is scheduled to appear in District Court on May 16, 2014.
