Special Report to Blowing Rock News from The Rotary Club of Blowing Rock. By John Marshall. June 2, 2015. BLOWING ROCK, NC — With 28 new sponsors, The Rotary Club of Blowing Rock leaped past its previous record in selling advertisements for the Blowing Rock Charity Horse Show exhibitor program.
Rotary’s Horse Show chairman for the past five years, Jim Clabough reported that total ad sales will top $35,000, $6,000 more than the 2014 total of $29,000 and a 65% increase over the 2010 total of $21,300 when he first starting working with the program.
Combined with Horse Show Derby raffle ticket sales, the winning sales teams for 2015 were:
- Chip’s Champions (Chair: Chip Eidel) — 476 points
- Sharon’s Secretariats (Chair: Sharon Crisman) — 418 points
- TIE: Pickett’s Chargers (Chair: Ray Pickett) and Parker’s Prancers (Chair: Barbara Parker) — 276.75 points
“We truly appreciate all of our club members’ hard work on this, and especially want to thank our sponsors,” Clabough noted to Blowing Rock News. “This is our Rotary club’s biggest fundraiser each year, so all of Rotary’s portion of the advertising sales will go to support the many non-profit causes they we embrace throughout the year. But really, this collaboration between Rotary, the Horse Show Foundation, and the High Country’s business community goes well beyond that because we are supporting an event that has roughly a $7.8 million economic impact on the High Country. So our advertisers are giving back, but they are also helping themselves by supporting the Blowing Rock Horse Show Foundation’s terrific event, now in its 92nd year.”
The Rotary Club of Blowing Rock meets each Monday for a buffet lunch and business meeting beginning at 11:45 am, at Chetola Mountain Resort, 500 Main Street, Blowing Rock, NC. For more information about becoming a member, CLICK HERE.
