By David Rogers. June 26, 2020. BLOWING ROCK, NC — They were the same big wooden scissors and typical big smiles, but because of the COVID-19 social distancing restrictions, more than two dozen witnesses to High Country Woodworks’ grand opening gala at Southmarke on Main Street were behind the camera instead of in front of it.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony was hosted on Thursday by the Blowing Rock Chamber of Commerce, with Chamber board members and Blowing Rock town officials on hand. Many others watched live on the Chamber’s Facebook page.
“We are excited to have some sense of normalcy by hosting this ribbon cutting,” said Suzy Barker, Blowing Rock Chamber of Commerce Event & Communications Specialist. “We typically host several ribbon cuttings every summer to welcome new businesses to Blowing Rock. Now more than ever, new businesses need the extra exposure.”
