Outside hitter Emily Corrigan again led the way with 20 kills and a .419 hitting percentage and designated setter Paige Brown recorded 40 assists, helping Appalachian State volleyball to the Mountaineers’ second conference win, this time a sweep over former SoCon rival, Georgia Southern, 25-17, 26-24, 25-18.

Outside hitters Jess Keller and Sloan Evans added 10 and 9 kills, respectively, to help the cause. Middle blocker Lauren Gray contributed 6 more. Libero Meghan Mahoney again led the team in digs, with 16, while Corrigan showed her versatility by adding 9 digs.
With the win, the nationally 28th ranked (AVCA poll of Sept. 15th) Mountaineers improve on their undefeated season to 12-0 (2-0 in Sun Belt), and are set to face Troy on Sunday, in Troy, AL. Georgia Southern falls to 0-11, 0-2 in Sun Belt.
Troy defeated Georgia Southern Wednesday night in the Trojans’ first Sun Belt Conference match for 2014. Overall, Troy is 9-4, with the most significant wins vs. Southern Mississippi (3-0), UNC-Asheville (3-0) and Jacksonville State (3-1) and notable losses to Auburn, Clemson and South Florida.
