By David Rogers. August 22, 2020. BLOWING ROCK, NC — It may have been a “soft” opening, but the re-opening of Famous Toastery at the corner of Ransom Street and Sunset Drive was a-hoppin’ Saturday for both breakfast and lunch.

Although the Blowing Rock restaurant was reportedly thriving under the management of the previous franchisee, other problems in their business forced them to abandon all three of their restaurant locations: Blowing Rock, Asheville, and Cary. As a result, all three Famous Toastery locations have been dormant for several months. According to Area Manager Steve Henning as he explained the corporate plans Saturday to a hungry reporter, both the Blowing Rock and Cary locations have now re-opened.
The parent company wants to be in the Blowing Rock market and sees opportunity, chief executive officer Robert Maynard shared with Blowing Rock News in a recent telephone interview.
“We love the Blowing Rock market and we love this location,” Maynard said.
While acknowledging that the COVID-19 pandemic served to make the re-opening more challenging in terms of staffing, that obstacle has been overcome. With both indoor and outdoor seating, as well as ample parking access is not a problem. And with a diverse and reasonably priced menu, the now corporate-managed restaurant has some staying power as it fills a void in the region’s culinary offerings.
