With another big all-around effort in a 56-37 win against Coastal Carolina, Evans maintained his position as one of the most productive players at the FBS level. He now ranks No. 2 nationally in all-purpose yards per game (176.3), No. 2 in points scored per game (15.0), No. 9 in average yards per kickoff return (30.7) and No. 11 in rushing yards per game (117.8).
With 10 total touchdowns as a junior, only SMU’s Xavier Jones (11) and Wisconsin’s Jonathan Taylor (11) have more this season. Evans has rushed for nine touchdowns and scored on one kickoff return.
Evans had three rushing touchdowns in a 34-31 win at North Carolina after becoming the first FBS player since 1999 to rush for at least 200 yards (234), score three rushing touchdowns and return a kickoff for a touchdown in the same game. He did that in a 56-41 win against Charlotte.
The reigning Sun Belt Conference rushing champion is App State’s record holder with three kickoff returns for a touchdown in his career. He averaged 6.6 yards per rush and 32.7 yards per kickoff return last season when he was one of only two players nationally with at least 1,000 rushing yards and 400-plus return yards.
