By David Rogers. March 27, 2017. BLOWING ROCK, NC — As historical institutions go, few events in Watauga County have as much historical significance as well as current economic impact on the region that the Blowing Rock Charity Horse Show. This year of 2017 will mark the 94th consecutive year that this special equestrian event has been staged in Blowing Rock, outliving world wars, economic recessions, and even Depressions.
Blowing Rock News is pleased to share three videos with readers. The first is a documentary produced by Appalachian State University in cooperation with the Blowing Rock Horse Show Foundation, sharing some of the history of the event and the organization that hosts it.
The second video was produced by Jordan Nelson of Nelson Aerial Productions, and it provides a more of a glimpse of what the Horse Show is today.
The third video is from the Wheeler Museum, providing some interesting tidbits as well as perspective on what the Blowing Rock event means to the larger equestrian community.
