BLOWING ROCK, NC — After listening to resident and business owner complaints over the past several weeks about how fast motorists on Valley Blvd. are going since the highway had been widened, on Monday Blowing Rock resident and member of the Board of Commissioners Albert Yount got a different perspective on speed.
“Blink,” Yount explained to Blowing Rock News, “and you are likely to miss the cars flying past you on the pavement below. They are going around 240 miles per hour!”
Yount, of course, was talking about the Indianapolis 500, a Memorial Day racing tradition in the United States.
“I used to go to the race every year,” he recalled, “but I missed a few years. I just decided it was time for me to go back this year. It is really quite a thrill and quite a spectacle.”
