BLOWING ROCK, NC — In the don’t waste any time department, the Town of Blowing Rock made the intersection of Sunset St. and Ransom St. a 4-way stop recently after the Board of Commissioners voted on the idea during their Asheville retreat over the Martin Luther King holiday weekend, January 15-17.This Blowing Rock News coverage is made possible by a sponsorship from Blowing Rok Medical Park, a division of Caldwell Memorial Hospital
Town Manager Scott Fogleman explained to Blowing Rock News in a telephone interview on Wednesday that the new signage has been planned for awhile as part of the Sunset Drive “Streetscape” improvements.
As part of the project, Fogleman said, the speed bump just west of the intersection will be taken away.
“Since the Streetscape project includes making that a four-way stop,” Fogleman noted, “the Commissioners talked about it and decided to implement the new signage now since there have also been some discussions about how to get (drivers) to slow down while travelling on Sunset. So they decided to try it out.”
When asked what the Town had used to inform the public about the new signage, the outgoing Town Manager said that it had been included in an emailed update from his office last week.
