By David Rogers. July 28, 2017. BLOWING ROCK, NC — Now in its 94th year, the Blowing Rock Charity Horse Show has grown to have more than an $8 million economic impact on the High Country during its three week run, one for Saddlebreds and two weeks for Hunter-Jumpers. The grace and beauty of horse and rider, the pageantry, the obvious power of a young steed controlled by the delicate hands of a young woman — it never gets old.
This year’s Hunter-Jumper events are the largest number of entries ever, some 500 horses.
Here is a sampling of the action on Friday, but some of the best equestrian events are saved for Saturday and Sunday. It is one of Blowing Rock’s most historic traditions and not to be missed!
