By D.X.D. Hall. July 26, 2017. BLOWING ROCK, NC – Finding “sisterhood” is a challenge for women of all backgrounds, all ages and all religions. For many, a connection that gives you not only identity and individuality, but also serves as an enabler — and let’s you know that you are not alone in the world – well, that connection is sacred, indeed.

Women in the High Country are invited to explore that mission of finding sisterhood in a special workshop at the Art of Living Retreat Center from Friday, August 18, 2017, beginning at 5:00 pm and lasting through Sunday, August 20, 2017, 5:00 pm.

Marina Ziel is the facilitator of the workshop.  Born and raised in Suriname, South America to a Dutch father and a Puerto Rican mother, she has lived on several continents and speaks four languages.

In serving others, we also learn more about ourselves.

“I am 66 years old now. My life’s work has been focused on connecting with people,” Ziel told Blowing Rock News from across the Atlantic Ocean in describing the workshop she will lead.  “I have worked in real estate and marketing. At one point in my life I was a flight attendant with KLM Royal Dutch Airlines. I have also been a specialist in Geobiology and Ecological Construction.

“For 15 years I worked with and for abused children, first as a Guardian Ad Litem in Miami, Florida, but also later in France after I moved here,” she continued in a telephone interview with Blowing Rock News. “As a former Rotary member in Lyon (France) for 10 years, I wholeheartedly believe in the organization’s motto, ‘Service Above Self.’  In serving others, we also learn more about ourselves.

“The common denominator of all of those activities,” added Ziel, “is the process of connecting people with each other and connecting me with people.  Areas of special interest for me have been Gnostic Anthropology and Shamanism, because at our very core, women are particularly spiritual beings. Through song, dance, and art, this weekend of love and spirituality is richly rewarding for those who choose to participate. Every ceremony, every ritual, and every experience deepen our understanding. Each woman learns more about herself, even while developing a valuable connection with her fellow participants, and they are relationships that can last a lifetime.”

The workshop investment starts at $436, including tuition, room and board for the two days. For registration information, CLICK HERE.

“Our participants, our sisters, are immersed in this workshop experience,” Ziel said. “At the end of the weekend, some will have found spiritual healing, while others will have a deeper sense of self.”
