By David Rogers. December 21, 2017. BLOWING ROCK, NC — Whether a business or an individual, choosing to find ways to compete usually ends up improving the quality of a product or service. Make or do it bigger, faster, further, more efficient, or less expensive.
The U.S. Postal Service is no exception. For several days now this year, customers of the Blowing Rock post office have been greeted at the door by a sign: “Package pickup will be available on Sunday, 12/17 and 12/24, from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm. Please ring bell at side door.”
How refreshing it is that USPS recognizes that either because of the Christmas rush or because friends and family might have been a mite tardy in getting Christmas presents sent through the mail, Santa’s holiday cargo might be arriving a little late, so they are doing everything they can to make sure we get our ‘booty.’ OR, maybe WE have been so busy with hosting or attending holiday parties, shopping and the like that we just didn’t get by the post office during regular business hours.
So to make our Christmas season just that much more joyful, post office employees are working overtime to make sure we have every chance to pick up those parcels.
Blowing Rock News’ hat is off to our local postal workers who are making this possible. Your own sacrifices are not unnoticed. We hope every Blowing Rock resident and business owner or employee will take the time to say “thank you” next time you are in the ol’ PO.
