By David Rogers. December 13, 2016. BLOWING ROCK, NC — The Town of Blowing Rock didn’t have to go far to find its new Town Manager and he has a lot of experience in the High Country.
Blowing Rock News confirmed this morning that current Beech Mountain Town Manager, Ed Evans, has accepted the position and is scheduled to start his new job in the latter half of January. Terms were not discussed.

Evans has a Bachelor’s of Science degree (B.S.) in Geography and Planning and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Appalachian State University, where he also studied economic development and public management. According to his LinkedIn profile, he is a Certified Zoning Official, was a North Carolina State Certified Residential Real Estate Appraiser (January 1990-June 2016), and North Carolina Real Estate Broker (January 1990-June 2016).
In addition to his current job as Town Manager of Beech Mountain (October 2015-present), previous professional assignments include service as Town Manager of the Town of Seven Devils (April 2009-October 2015); Planner, Martin-McGill, Inc. (May 2008-April 2009); Owner, Appalchian Visual Productions, Boone (1998-2008), and a Real Estate Appraiser, Evans Appraisal Service, Boone (1990-2008).
The LinkedIn profile also lists his other interests as flying, hiking, biking, motorcycling, photography, and fishing.
Evans will replace Scott Fogleman, who has served the Town of Blowing Rock as Town Manager since September 2013, but is stepping down to pursue private, family-related business interests.
