BLOWING ROCK -- What became U.S. 321 has wound its way up the mountain from Lenoir and through Blowing Rock for many generations of High Country residents and visitors. Most of the modifications to the path of the highway were relatively minor -- until the recently launched widening project that is currently displacing a multitude of buildings, boulders, plants and shrubbery, and just plain dirt. Where does all the material go?

April 19, 2013. ROCKY MOUNT -- Robert Ray Mauldin, 78, a seasonal resident of Blowing Rock and member of the Rumple Memorial Presbyterian Church Sanctuary Choir, passed away on Thursday after a long illness. This obituary was passed on to us from relatives and friends in Rocky Mount.

RALEIGH – Lane closures will not take place in the U.S. 321 widening project work zone through Blowing Rock during Labor Day weekend. Construction crews may continue work during this time, but no lane closures will be allowed from Friday, Aug. 31, at 6 a.m. through Tuesday, Sept. 4, at 6 p.m. The regular work schedule will resume on the morning of Wednesday, Sept. 5.
