By David Rogers. January 23, 2017. BLOWING ROCK, NC — Blowing Rock 8th grade hoopster Jack Kohout made the most of his last official (regular season) appearance in a boys basketball game on the court of the Blowing Rock School gymnasium. The lanky center/forward poured in a game-high 14 points to lead the Rockets past visiting Hardin Park Monday night, 41-35.

Blowing Rock’s inside aggressiveness won the battle of the boards and pesky hands among the Rockets’ outside athletes kept the Eagles off-balance for the better part of the highly physical contest. The Rockets’ point guards, led by 8th grader Carter Moore, deftly disrupted the Eagles possessions and forced the Eagles into awkward passes.
Blowing Rock led almost from start to finish, 13-8 after the first quarter, 22-19 at the half, and 33-22 at the end of the third quarter before finishing at 41-35.
Next up for the Rockets is a final regular season game at Cove Creek on Thursday, Jan. 27th.
As the last home game of the regular season, the 8th grade students were celebrated for their participation and representation of the school in athletic competition.
