Blowing Rock “2017 Leadership Challenge” Kicks Off With Alumni Luncheon

BLOWING ROCK, NC — A strong and enthusiastic list of participants highlights the 2017 Blowing Rock Leadership Challenge, a program of the Blowing Rock Chamber of Commerce.  Fourteen area personalities will begin an 8-week program aimed at helping each one become more knowledgeable about the ins and outs of working in Blowing Rock and the High Country.

The 14 participants this year come from a wide variety of occupations. Some are business owners, while others are managers or key employees of companies. Their first day will be on retreat at the Blowing Rock Conference Center, where they will have an opportunity to interact with some of the scores of “graduates” of the program at a luncheon, 12:30 pm on Friday, March 3, 2017, at the Conference Center.

Leadership Challenge alumni wishing to attend the Kickoff Luncheon should call Charles Hardin (828-295-7851) to make sure there is enough food prepared. The cost of the luncheon is $10.

Held by the Chamber of Commerce every two years, Leadership Challenge is a series of seven half-day sessions provide information about local businesses, as well as government agencies, planned to stimulate interest and awareness, as well as an opportunity to interact with the various speakers and discussion leaders. In addition to Friday’s Kickoff Retreat, the program curriculum includes:

  • Business Development
  • Workforce Development
  • Physical Infrastructure
  • Cultural Infrastructure
  • Social Infrastructure
  • Closing Session and Graduation
